Originally established by Gleb Shevchuk, Armaun Rouhi, Soham Mhatre, and Daniel Shevchuk in the beginning of the 2013-2014 school year as a subset of Peer Leaders Uniting Students (PLUS), Del Norte Peer Tutoring supplies multitudes of classrooms with experienced tutors during Monday,Wednesday, and Thursday Tutorial periods. By bringing our tutors to students during these Tutorial periods, we strive to refine Del Norte’s academic prowess and enrich the academic foundations of every Nighthawk.
This program works by bringing the tutors to the students, instead of the other way around. Teachers will be able to request a certain amount of tutors to come to their class and help out during tutorial. In this way, more students coming to tutorial will be able to receive help. In the first five minutes of each tutorial, tutors will come to the Nighthawk Center, check in, and receive their assignments. This is essentially just a classroom and a teacher that the tutor will report to. For that tutorial time, the tutor will help students that come to the given teacher's classroom.
